Following a private ceremony the day before with just immediate family and their bridal party, Rachel and Michael threw a grander soiree to celebrate their nuptials. They chose the InterContinental at the Wharf as their venue, which Rachel says was ideal thanks to the ballroom’s floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the marina. “It made it easy to leverage that gorgeous lighting from the marina to give the room flare,” she says. Roses, eucalyptus, and wildflowers were used to dress up the space, as well as a color palette of greens, golds, and whites.
As a nod to the bride’s hometown on Long Island, the couple served a variety of seafood dishes for dinner. The first course started with a lobster tail, which the couple says people are still talking about today. A choice between salmon, filet mignon, or roasted chicken, followed by personal fruit-topped cheesecakes as dessert. The night concluded with dancing and good tunes by the Bachelor Boys Band.
Following a private ceremony at Holy Trinity Church the day before with just immediate family and their bridal party, Rachel and Michael threw a spectacular DC soiree to celebrate their nuptials. They chose the InterContinental at the Wharf as their venue, which Rachel says was an optimal location, due to the ballroom’s floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the marina. “It made it easy to leverage that gorgeous lighting from the marina to give the room flare,” says Rachel. Roses, eucalyptus, and wildflowers were also used to dress up the space, as well as a color palette of greens, golds, and whites. The kicked off the affair with a second ceremony, which was supposed to take place on District Pier but was moved inside due to rain.
