Where & When Bridal

Find a wedding band, plan an ethnic wedding, win free airfare, and more— all in one weekend.

Thursday, July 16: Summer Cocktail Fête
It’s best to see your potential wedding entertainment in its natural environment before reaching a decision. Check out the bands Nation, the Source, Raggs and the All Stars, and Truth Groove at the Four Seasons (2800 Pennsylvania Ave., NW; 202-342-0444) and decide for yourself who does the best cover of “Message in a Bottle.” 6 to 9 pm. Free with reservation; e-mail rsvp@elanartists.com to RSVP.

Saturday, July 18: Heavenly Bed Celebration and Bridal Showcase
We’re not sure why the tenth anniversary of a luxe bed is a cause for a bridal event, but nevertheless, the Westin Arlington Gateway (801 N. Glebe Rd.; 703-537-4245) is having a bridal event with hors d’oeuvres, Champagne, and a bridal fashion show in honor of the Westin’s hotel-quality line of beds. Free with RSVP; 1 to 4 pm.

Sunday, July 19: Project I Do Wedding-Planning Workshop
For soon-to-be brides of the control-freak variety, it’s best not to terrorize wedding planners with your Bridezilla ways. Learn wedding-planning tips at a free workshop by Project I Do, an online planning guide for ethnic weddings. The event is at the Crowne Plaza (1960 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean; 703-893-2100) Free with reservation; RSVP by July 18. 11 to 1.

Creative Cakes open house
Known for its gingerbread houses, this Silver Spring bakery (8814 Brookville Rd.; 301-587-1599) also bakes cakes for weddings and other events. Sample cake (even if you’re not getting married) at its monthly cake tasting and open house. Free; noon to 3 PM.
