Nautical Eastern Shore Wedding at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

After spending weekends there during their dating years, Anna Leist and Kevin Weigand knew they wanted to return to St. Michaels for their wedding. Their celebration at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum included everything we love about Eastern Shore events–preppy navy accents, lanterns, and a custom compass monogram. Take a look at the highlights from their day in the photos below by Connor Studios.

Anna and Kevin may have become good friends while they were both enrolled in law school at William & Mary, but it took graduating and moving apart for them both to realize they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. When Anna decided to transfer to DC, where she would be much closer to Kevin in Northern Virginia, she had to miss Christmas with her family due to her move. Kevin invited Anna to celebrate the holiday with his family in Long Island instead, and it it was clear to everyone–especially Kevin’s grandmother, who bought their engagement card shortly after their visit ended–that they would end up together forever.

After a little over two years of dating, Anna and Kevin took a weekend trip on St. Michaels, one of their favorite spots for a getaway. A full day of completely ordinary sight seeing quieted any of Anna’s suspicions that this might be the weekend Kevin proposed, but little did she know he was waiting for the perfect sunset moment to pop the question.

Anna and Kevin returned to their favorite town for their wedding, celebrating with an outdoor, nautical-themed reception at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Threats of thunderstorms came true midway through their reception, creating a stunning lighting display that was visible in the distance above the water.

An sail cloth tent hung with white lanterns added perfect Eastern Shore elements to the navy-colored wedding. After a night of dancing with their band–who the groom says was “incredible”–the couple finished the night on a sweet note with a cake bar and cookie favors.
