Where & When Bridal: What to Do This Weekend

A Thursday sample sale kicks off this weekend’s bridal hoopla.

Thursday, January 24: Bridal Sample Super Sale
Two of my favorite words: sample sale! Head to the Harriet Kassman Bridal Salon (5300 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-363-1870) to snag 75 percent off dresses from Badgley Mischka, Romona Keveza, Stephen Yearick, and more. The sale lasts through the 27th, but I would hit it ASAP.

Saturday, January 26: Wedding Planning for Brides on a Budget

Learn the ins and outs of saving money on your wedding from a professional event planner at this single-session adult-ed class at Fairfax High School (3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax). On the docket: ideas for do-it-yourself projects, advice on hidden costs, and more. As of Wednesday morning, there were only a handful of spots left, so register now. $39; 9 AM to noon.

Sunday, January 27: Washington Bridal Showcase
This traveling bridal expo—it was in Bethesda last weekend—hits the Dulles Expo Center (4368 Chantilly Center, Chantilly) for the last show of the season. Some highlights: the Wedding Gallery—an artsy setup of flowers, cakes, table settings, and photos—and several live presentations, including one on the top ten wedding trends of 2008. $10 at the door, $8 advance purchase; 11 AM to 5 PM.

Maryland Bridal Show
Make the drive to the Old Weave building in the Historic Savage Mill shopping complex (8600 Foundry St., Savage) to browse wedding vendors, see a bridal fashion show and—just maybe—win a six-day honeymoon in Aruba. $8 at the door, $5 advance purchase; noon to 3 PM.
