Real Weddings: Jasmine and Gautam

A bright and lively Indian wedding full of ornate details and a purple-and-orange color scheme

Every week, we’ll present a gorgeous local wedding that we hope will inspire you. Up first is the wedding of Jasmine and Gautam, a pair of high school sweethearts who met (and eventually got engaged!) on a tennis court.

The couple married at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on June 4.

“We liked that the Reagan building was large enough to hold over 400 guests and had different locations for each of our wedding events,” says Jasmine.

Their nuptials consisted of a morning ceremony and an evening reception. At the ceremony, the mandap (wedding canopy) was ornately decorated with fresh flowers and traditional colors.

“We wanted our mandap to be simple, but elegantly decorated so that our guests could see it from far away,” says Jasmine.

The reception featured purple and orange décor and a mango-flavored wedding cake. Gold coasters served as favors. Says the bride: “We wanted our favors to be different and practical.”
